Tuzla gets its name from the salt lagoon that connects to the Gulf of Gulluk. The international Bodrum-Milas Airport (BJV) is approximately 10km NE and Bodrum town centre is around 20km SW of Tuzla. Nearest village is called Bogazici sits in the middle of the straight that connects the lagoon to the gulf. In its vicinity, Gulluk is the nearest town; however driving time is almost the same as to Bodrum due to its positioning of the roads. Also Guvercinlik is the nearest beach resort/village with restaurants and a small promenade. Currently much of the main highway is farms and petrol stations with a few road-side restaurants.
