Akbuk is approximately 15 to 20 minutes drive west of Altinkum. Akbuk is a quiet and peaceful area that has kept its original charm. It is an increasingly popular destination for foreigners because of its relaxed atmosphere, quiet beaches and stunning backdrop of mountain forests.Once a small fishing village, Akbuk is a place where Turkish traditions are still a part of daily life, thus enabling this small town to be such a beautiful place in which to live. Along the fishing harbour and beaches there are a belt of excellent restaurants and local cafes. There is a spacious area next to the beaches, there are large trees offering shade to all visitors, which is highly welcomed on the warmest of days. You can buy fresh fish from the local boats, some of them even serve it grilled (barbequed).
For nightlife, Akbuk features many bars, which are all set along the main Akbuk beach road. Here you can relax and enjoy the sounds of a live band playing traditional Turkish folk music.
If shopping is something high on your agenda, then Friday in Akbuk is market day. The market is fairly large, with the local farmers selling fresh fruit and vegetables cheese and yogurt, but you will also find clothes, blankets, towels, jewellery, flowers, pottery and lots more.
